Hands-on Basic Flow Cytometry Course

The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) announce the hands-on flow cytometry course. This course provides hands-on training on the popular flow cytometers for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and other researchers. The hands-on training in a dedicated teaching laboratory equipped with many state-of-the-art flow cytometers at NCBS.

Course Overview:

Attendees will be selected from all over the country. Attendees from academic and non-academic institutions are encouraged to apply. The course will be intense and will require full- time participation from morning to evening. We will have a dedicated teaching laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art flow cytometers. The participants will be trained on basics of flow cytometry, DNA cell-cycle analysis, immunocytometry and live cell functional assays. On the last day of the course, all participants will write a test and the mistakes done in the test will be discussed. The participants will be trained on the cytometer they have in their respective institutions.

Eligibility:

This course is primarily intended for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and other researchers from academic and non-academic institutions. The participants must have at least one of the flow cytometers mentioned above in their institutions.

Housing and Fee:

Boarding and on-campus shared accommodation will be provided.
The tuition fee for the course is Rs. 10,000 for participants from academic institutions and Rs. 15,000 for participants from non-academic institutions.

All participants are requested to submit the following material online.

2) A short write up on of your research interest and reason for taking the course.
3) Letter of recommendation from the principal investigator of the participant.

We will select 20 students on a competitive basis. Selected candidates will be informed by 25th November 2009 with the tuition fee being payable upon acceptance.

Travel:

Participants will be responsible for their own transport to Bangalore. Travel between the airport and NCBS will be arranged by the meeting organizers up on request.
